If you appreciate wine, wine tasting and exploring new varieties or simply wine makers, in this article we will explore the different wine regions around the world and what they produce to help expand where you can explore and visit perhaps for your next vacay. 

European Wine Regions

Discover France

France is one of the most well-known wine regions in the world. The country has a long and rich history of winemaking, and it's home to some of the most famous wine estates in the world. Some of our favorite French wines include Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and Rhone Valley wines.

Italian Wine

Italy is, of course, one of the best wine countries in the world. The country has many different wine regions, each with their own unique style of wine. Our favorites include Tuscany (especially Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino), Veneto (particularly Soave and Valpolicella), and Piedmont (especially Barolo and Barbaresco).

Spanish Wine Regions

Spain is a great destination for wine lovers too. The country has a wide range of wine regions, each with their own unique style of wine. Our favorites include Rioja, Priorat, and Ribera del Duero.

German Wine

Germany is well-known for its Rieslings, which are considered some of the best in the world. Other German wine regions that are worth exploring include Moselle Valley, Pfalz, and Rheingau.

Portuguese Wine

Portugal is another wine region that produces some really great wines! Some of our favorites include Douro Valley, Estremadura, Lisboa, and Vinho Verde.

Australian Wine

Australia is the fifth most popular wine producing country in the world (behind France). It's home to many different wine regions, each producing their own unique styles of wines. Some of our favorite Australian wine regions include Adelaide Hills, Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, McLaren Vale Peninsula, and Margaret River.

Argentinian Wine

Argentina is another popular destination for wine lovers because it's home to many world-class wineries that produce great Malbecs! Wine regions in Argentina that you should explore include Mendoza, San Juan, and Salta.

New Zealand Wine

New Zealand is a great wine country to visit if you're looking for something different. The region is known for its Sauvignon Blancs, which are some of the best in the world. Some other New Zealand wine regions worth checking out include Central Otago, Gisborne, and Marlborough. This is of course in addition to visiting any Hobbits.

North American Wine Regions

The United States is home to many different wine regions, each with their own unique style of wine. Some of our favorite American wine regions include California (especially Napa Valley and Sonoma County), Oregon (particularly the Willamette Valley), and Virginia.

South American Wine Regions

Chile produces some really great wines, particularly Pinot Noirs and Cabernet Sauvignons. Wine regions in Chile that you will want to explore include Maipo Valley, Casablanca Valley, and San Antonio/Aconcagua. Brazil is another wine region worth checking out because it's home to many unique and well-made wines.
